Peer Pressure

As I started eighth grade, I got to see how insecure teenagers can be. Schools have even started giving personality development/LifeSkill periods at least once a week.

My school has a system of school cinema, wherein, short and educational films are shown, and based on that, we are made to answer questions on various topics like perspectives and more.

During secondary school, the greatest fight has to be put up against peer pressure, a mental pressure that can make a huge difference in an individual's life. Peer pressure is defined as “influence from members of one’s peer group”.

When meeting new people and socializing, people sometimes tend to pick up their habits. Maybe this very outgoing person in your group picked up the habit of bunking classes to come off as a cool person. You would be pressurized to do so too, to blend in or fit in the group.

Peer pressure is a very important topic for discussion. Awareness should be risen about it. If you know someone who is going through peer pressure and want to help, you should try talking to them about it; explaining it's the wrong thing to do, or perhaps telling a trusted adult.

Holding campaigns about peer pressure and educating children that it is a wrong thing, can warn them from an early age about peer pressure.

So, let’s work together and inform people about peer pressure and how it can affect someone deeply, and let’s put an end to it. No one should be unfortunate enough to go through this unnecessary evil.
